The immortal paced before the mullioned windows, his hands clasped behind his back. The lengthy braid he wore almost reached the backs of his knees and matched the color of his dark oriental attire. She’d never seen such a lengthy mane on a male. Oh, but it looked so fine on him. Light and shadow played over his exquisitely sculpted features, which captivated her almost as much his trim, wiry physique. His was a stark beauty and akin to a netted butterfly, she was his captive. Right at that moment, she knew why so many risked all to acknowledge their animal instinct. Everything about him screamed at her to liberate her inhibitions and become the wild wanton she’d hidden from the outside world.

He stopped suddenly and turned to face her. His exotic eyes an incandescent yellow, frightened and excited her. She sucked in much-needed air. She had to admit liking them more when they were amber, and wondered whether such a look could burn if exposed to it for a time. “Accept the kindred, embrace what we are.” His melodic tone wrapped itself around her like fine oriental silk.

Wake up, Sophia, this creature is an assassin! He’s about to do his duty and execute you!

“I’ll not embrace what you are. Never!” His mouth curled slightly and a shiver ran right through her. The brief moment of bravado deserted her and she quickly looked away.

“What I am, my dear Sophia, is your god.” The words, spoken so softly, caught her attention more than they would have had he ranted them at her. “I can give you everything, or I can take it away.” He snapped his fingers. “The choice is entirely yours.”

Sophia tilted her head and pushed her locks over one shoulder, exposing her neck. “Then feast your fill and get it over and done with!”

Smiling coolly, he moved closer. A diminutive five-foot three-inches tall his five-foot eleven-inch frame towered over her. “I like your spirit, little butterfly.” His index finger caressed beneath her chin while his thumb traced over her quivering lips. She had to still the urge not to follow it with her tongue.

I will not be coerced! The direction of her thoughts alarmed her.

“Embrace immortality and I’ll mend your wings, teach you to soar beyond grounding emotion, take you places you’ve never conceived of. The promise of heaven will seem inconsequential…”

He must imagine me to be completely mad!

It's been a looooog week me. I'm suffering the affects of a flu-- it's winter here in Australia--and I'm not at all productive. I'm working on completing Sophia's Release, the third book for Immortality's Caress, my historical vampire series, and more... Today I received some exciting news, which pepped me up. *Sneezes & grins* Below is a snippet from the latest review for Eloise's Awakening. I've pasted the blurb for those who have not read this work, to give you an idea before reading the review snippet. Much thanks to Tj at The Romance Studio for making my day brighter. :)

Note: Although this work is primarily a heterosexual erotic romance there is one f/f scene. Historical/ Paranormal/Erotic Romance. Set in Baroque France, 1688

Eloise de Mann is over a hundred years old. She is vivacious, spirited, rather eccentric and somewhat gauche, for a vampire. Her past hurts have her steering clear of the male species, with the exception of a few select immortals, and her incompetent guardian Claude.

Eloise loathes coffins and will only use one when necessary, so naturally she’s outraged when she awakens in one, knowing her male guardian has betrayed her. She climbs from the coffin in a right state, but hang nails, disheveled hair and a wrinkled, musty-scented gown, are the least of her problems!

Upon entering her home, Eloise finds that an Englishman, Lord Christian Montgomery, has taken up residence there. Luckily for him, the deafening voice of reason, Queen Claudia’s, forbids Eloise to harm him in any way! Her only option is to seduce him.

This pair battle over more than mere possessions…

Eloise is a strong female character in this sequel and she meets her match in Christian. Christian goes about enticing Eloise in ways she never thought possible. She only wants this man out of her home, but something more is at work here. The setting, dialogue, and characters are thoughtfully brought to life. The research Ms. Martin has done is apparent in this work and makes the reader feel as if they are really in Venice or France. The erotic elements add heat to the story in just the right way. I am looking forward to reading the next installment in this series.

· MMM. What inspired me to pen The Lock Keeper?

· MK. I wanted to write a story about a guy who escapes into the wilds and is free to roam naked as he hunts for his food. I didn't want it to be a boy meets girl type of story. And as I believe that gay guys do want love stories in their lives, it slotted in nicely with my views. So Craig [ the main character ] is gay, and although he is running from life, he never dreamed he would find his love in the wilds of Scotland.

· MK. Under my pen name [ Michael Keene ] Yes. But I also write under my legal name Mike Herring..

8 random facts/habits about me:


1. I can’t go a day without my coffee. Grumpy bum grows fangs and foams at the mouth.

2. January this year I flew from Brisbane to LA, it was the very first time I’d flown anywhere and I went on my own. Big baby grew up. It was the longest time I’d spent away from my fourteen-year-old son. He forgives me. LOL

3. I used to be a model for mens magazines. <--> Ditto Desiree’s comment.

4. I was a belly dancer.

5. I’m obsessed by most things Egyptian. My first project was about Khufu, a fourth Dynasty Pharaoh and Great Pyramid builder— my greatest obsession. I’ve written several works set in Egypt but only one has been published. My lover is Egyptian. And how far can one take an obsession you wonder? No, not nuts... eccentric, I tell you.

6. I used to paint landscapes and draw portraits. <--> Ditto Desiree’s comment. Now I just photograph everything. Well...almost.

7. I didn’t grow up with the notion I’d be a writer. I wanted to be a singer. I started writing in 2000.

8. My best friend is male. No, he’s not my lover. Hmm… I hear you thinkin’. No, he’s not gay either. LOL
